Sew the Perfect Bag - Book Review

What’s in a bag? Well it could be a purse, handbag, tote, backpack, satchel…you get the idea. Sew the Perfect Bag has step by step directions for twenty-five different bags. My favorite is the Reversible Purse designed by Ellen March. The diagonal line across the middle catches my eye and I think it would work for a variety of uses, not just a handbag, more like a tote.

The great things about this book are the easy to read supply lists, step by step directions with diagrams and the versatility of each pattern. Most of the bags in Sew the Perfect Bag can be made from a yard or less of fabric meaning you could use left over fabric or a few sample piece. In fact, you could recycle fabric from a clothing item for an eco twist. Easy to follow diagrams also allow you to alter the size of the project to tailor it to your own needs.

The introduction of the book states that once you see how easy it is to make a bag that doesn’t require a pattern, you’ll see how easy it is to adapt them to your own style and ultimately create your own patterns. What a great tool to learn how to take an idea, make it your own and expand upon it!
